Arizona moves closer to banning cell phone use for teen drivers
28 April 2012
Arizona teens are coming ever closer to being banned from using cell phones while behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.
Arizona’s state Senate recently passed House Bill 2348, legislation that supporters believe would increase he strength of Arizona’s Graduated Drivers License Law, by a vote of 18-11.
If made law, the legislation would ban teens operating motor vehicles under a learner’s permit or during the first six months of the graduated driver’s license process from using cellular phones in any non-emergency capacity while driving.
The cities of Phoenix and Tucson have previously enacted regulations that prohibit all motorists from texting while operating a motor vehicle, but no Arizona cities ban drivers from all cell phone use while driving, according to information provided by AAA Arizona.
