She Was the Best Dog Ever
When our children were very young, we got our first dog, a Blue Heeler. She had been a farm dog and belonged to my brother in law. Because he was moving a lot, he couldn’t keep her. He had spent a lot of time on her puppy obedience training and was sad to let her go. She was a great family dog and because she had been so well trained, her natural energy was easy to divert into positive directions. She loved to ride in the back of my husband’s pick up truck and readily bonded with our young children. Even years later, we still fondly remember her as the best dog we ever had.
