Reality Check

07 December 2009

A lot of people seem to believe that being in fashion design is a glamorous career.  Well it has its moments but for the most part it is anything but glamorous.   The thing is, fashion designer salaries have a wide range and depend greatly on whether you are self employed or working for a large company.   Self employed and at the top of the game is where everyone wants to be.  That is the glamorous job with the big paycheck.   Unfortunately that is not the reality for most of us in the industry.   The reality is more like a regular 9 to 5 job.

Studying medicine – What should you consider?

24 November 2009

A career in medicine is among of the most rewarding and satisfying of all the careers that you might possibly pick.  Imagine being able to help hundreds or thousands of individuals every year and being able to make the difference in life or death situations.  A career in medicine is among of the most respected and well-liked of any career and the rewards are tremendous too.  A career in medicine is not simple to get into however and takes years of committed study before you can begin it.  It does not matter which branch of medicine you intend to enter or which career path you might hope to pursue you will have to work hard to get there.  This is why going to the top medical school you can find is so imperative.  Going to a good quality medical school is the opening step on what will hopefully be a long and thriving career in medicine whether you would like to be a doctor, dentist nurse or surgeon.  A fine medical school will give you a first-class preparation in your chosen career path and help to get you your earliest job and work placement.  With increased competition for medical school spaces in the UK more and more British residents are turning to other options to start or further their medical careers.  Starting  a medical career abroad is at the present a sound choice for lots of people as it can work out just as economical as doing it in the UK  especially with the rising cost of university courses and accommodation and the quality of the medical schools is the same if not greater than those that are based in the UK.  Of course going abroad to study will not be for every person but it will be a first-class opportunity to study a new language and take part in a new countries culture and way of life.  A career in medicine can be very rewarding and wherever you begin it you will in no way come to regret it.

Standard Church Volunteer Background Check Turns Up Criminal Records

17 November 2009

As the children’s director at my church, it is my job to organize the list of volunteers to make the children’s ministry run smoothly. Since our church has been growing by leaps and bounds, we suddenly find ourselves overrun with kids! We are outgrowing our facilities! A parent suggested that we start screening our volunteers to ensure that they are all safe to work with our children. I decided to implement that suggestion right away and I am so glad I did. Within 2 days of acquiring State of California criminal records for all volunteers, I discovered a registered sex offender that was in the nursery!

Accent Reduction Classes-Learn to Pronounced Voiced Consonants

12 November 2009

One of the most important things that you will learn in your accent reduction classes is how to pronounced voiced sounds and voiceless sounds. A voiced sound is a sound that causes your vocal chords to vibrate. A voiceless sound does not cause your vocal chords to vibrate.

American English has eight voiced consonant sounds and sixteen voiceless consonant sounds. All of the vowel sounds are voiced.

One of the most problematic voiced consonant sounds for students to articulate is the voiced th sound. This sound is found in the words: the, this, that, those, mother, brother and another. Since the voiced th sound is found in words that we use very frequently you need to practice this sound in your accent reduction classes.

Paying To Get Better Grades

09 November 2009

Math has never been my subject and I suppose I have passed this deficiency down to my daughter.  This year’s assignments have surpassed my knowledge and ability to help so we have requested a list of tutors to choose from so that my dear daughter may pass Algebra.  I will gladly pay someone to teach hear this subject that I only barely passed when I was in school myself.  She is not keen on having to work extra to get the grades she needs, but she’s even less keen on not being able to play field hockey if she does not get proper grades. It’s her choice.

Who Can Help My Brother?

04 November 2009

My brother decided that he was going to start his own talent agency. He had so many problems with getting it started inexpensively. My brother tried many different techniques, but none of them really worked for him. I did some research for him, and found a manual for starting your own talent agency by Randy Charach. He bought the manual, and it has helped him. I am happy to see my brother doing well. Starting a talent agency is not an easy task to undertake. I am happy that there are resources for people to become self employed. With the economic climate in the state it is in we can all use a little help.

My Oldest Daughter

30 October 2009

Recently, my oldest daughter has begun telling me that everything is not her fault. When she does something wrong, it’s not her fault because so-and-so did such and such. Usually, she twists it around to make it somehow my fault. It drives me crazy, and I know that it is not good for her. She needs to learn to be responsible for her own actions, or she may find herself in a heap of trouble when she gets older. It has gotten me thinking about accountability. What is Acountability? Why is it important? If I can answer these questions, perhaps I can teach the concepts to her.
