Check the File Extention Before You Download
While you can trust many of the files on the p2p networks, as there are filters in place to help stop certain viruses and spam, there are a few things that can get through. Step one to prevent viruses is to download Ares, as it is one of the safest out there, step two is to pay close attention to the file extension, that is the last few letters after the dot in the file name. Do a quick google search on file type extensions to see a list of the common ones, the goal is not to download a .exe when you want a .jpg!
