I’ve been working all week trying to level the steps on our back deck. Whoever built the thing did a poor job with the foundation work. In fact, I wonder if they poured a footing at all. I got the rest of the main deck squared away, but the south end of the steps has sunk several inches.

I’ve tried everything I can think of to get the post loose from the ground, but no luck so far. Clearly some sort of new technology is required.

Maybe I can rent a house jack, drive a nail into the side and then use the jack to raise it.

I’d knock the thing down at this point if I could.

Recently, we took a family vacation to California and stayed with my sister.  She has a small two bedroom house but we were able to stay with her because we brought two air mattress beds.  We were able to sleep four in her living room since we had two beds on the floor, one person on the couch, and the other one in a chair with a footstool.   So, this enabled us to stay with her instead of having to get a hotel room!  They are also great to have if you like to go camping.  They provide protection from the cold, hard ground!
